Last week EMREX had a poster session at EURASHE’s 27th Annual Conference in Le Havre, France. Higher Education Institutions from many countries in Europe and beyond participated in this conference with the theme “Professional higher education 4.0: A Change for Universities of Applied Sciences”.
Workshop with SIGMA – Spain
On 15-16 February an EMREX workshop was held in Barcelona. SIGMA is one of the main actors in Spain regarding student information systems. The purpose of the workshop was to explore how EMREX can apply to Spanish higher education in general and more specific how EMREX can be integrated with Sigma’s information systems.
The workshop came up with technical sketches on how to add both EMREX clients and NCP to Sigma’s systems, and how to move forward with this to include the universities in the process.

Why and how to participate
EMREX is the solution for electronic transfer of achievements records between higher education institutions in Europe. The Field Trial is now rolling on, and exchange students are digitally transferring their achievement recorts between institutions in Norway, Sweden Finland and Italy – with Denmark soon to come. What is the actial status? Does it work? what do the students think about EMREX? If you’re not already on board – how do you join?
At our second open seminar we will try to answer all these questions, but also have time for discussions among the different countries and partners taking part in this policy project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The main entrance is situated on the east side of the Arcada building, in the intersection of Tuokolankatu and Toukaloankuja, next to Jan-Magnus Janssonin aukio. Tram 6 (Arabia – Hietalahti) or 8 (Arabia – Saknusaari) provides an easy and comfortable ride to and from downtown Helsinki in about 20 minutes. The stop nearest Arcada is Kyläsaarenkatu. A suggestion is to take tram 6 from outside the main railway station to Arcada.
The seminar is free of charge, but participants are expected to cover their own travelling and accomodation expenses.

EMREX presented two times in Brussels this December
The EMREX Project has been presented two times at European meetings in Brussels this month. 1 December at the annual NARIC meeting and again 14 December at an Erasmus+ National Agencies event, where the European Commission strongly urged the National Erasmus Agencies to find Higher Education Institutions to join EMREX.
EMREX in Poland ready for deployment
The newest official version (6.2.1 issued on 23.11.2016) of student information system USOS developed by Polish partner (University of Warsaw) for the consortium of more than 50 Polish Higher Education Institutions (MUCI) contains the EMREX module which offers functionality of both SMP and NCP. That means that when only the institution deploys that version and the URL of that institution’s NCP is added to the EMREX registry, students of that institution, outgoing and incoming, will be able to transfer their achievements. The decision to join EMREX network will be up to the local authorities. Technical part is ready to use.
The special workshop for Polish HEIs, members of MUCI, is planned to take place in Warsaw in the early January 2017. The main topic will be the new admission system, used for recruitment of prospective students for diploma studies, short-term studies and internal mobility (part of MOST program). The EMREX solution will also be presented and possible benefits of EMREX for the Polish education system will be discussed.

Workshop with DUO – the Netherlands
On 3-4 October an EMREX workshop was held in Groningen. The main purpose for the workshop was to demonstrate an EMREX implementation for the Netherlands, where Dutch students would be able to share their results with the EMREX network, and deliver result data from other countries to Dutch universities.
The workshop was successful and a prototype was made demonstrating the data exchange in both directions. DUO will soon decide on how to follow up on this development.
